Expert Predicts Online Gambling in Aus to be Legal Soon

Good news came out of the Gaming, Racing and Wagering Australia (GRWA) conference this last week, held in Sydney. The GamePlan Consultants founder, Sudhir Kalé, predicted that the Australian government would look into amending its legislation on online casino websites in Australia. Adversely, this legislation has driven AU players to seek online casino sites from overseas, with a wide range of betting options available there that are prohibited in Australia. Kale spoke bluntly to industry representatives, saying that ‘it is only a matter of time before online gaming becomes legal in Australia’.

Kalé’s Sentiments Echoed by Queensland’s Gaming Exec

The executive director of the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation Queensland, Michael Sarquis, echoed the view of a more liberal gambling industry in Australia. He explained that it is his personal view that attempts to ban online gaming only created a black market for Australian players and offshore online casinos have been a problem for the Commonwealth.
