Statistics Show That Australian Online Gamblers Spend More and Win More
Added: February 16, 2014
The Economist has been doing some research into online gambling habits recently, and it has just published the findings of this research, which took a look at the online gambling and online casino spending habits of online gamblers around the world. The overall results or this research by The Economist shows that Australian online gamblers spend the most money at online casino sites, and when it comes to betting, the wager the most, they lose the most and they win the most.
We all know that Australians seem to love betting, but the total spend at online casino sites per resident of Australia, is a whopping $1144. And of course, this is the total population, how many residents of Australia that are actually online gamblers who play at an online casino site regularly is not, known, but you can bet that the actual number of people into online gambling is not a massive percentage, so they are probably betting individually far more that $1144 when playing at an online casino site each year.
The general opinion that The Economist puts forward regarding the online gambling habits of Australian online gamblers is that compared to other countries, the average Australian has more free cash to spend at an online casino site.
Tim Costello, Chairman of the Australian Churches Gambling Taskforce, has said that, "Gambling is just like eucalyptus oil – it's natural. But in Australia we've allowed gambling to proliferate more than anyone else in the world."
There has also been some research done on gambling opportunities in Australia. This has shown that Australia has more real world poker machines than any other country, and this surely must help to affect the gambling habits of the local population.
The raw figures for online gambling make up about half of the amount of cash that Australians are betting every year. The average amount per resident spent at an online casino site playing online poker games last year was $520. Once again, this is per head, not per gambler, so the individual amount is going to be quite a lot higher.
There are several independent health organizations in Australia that have begun using this statistics to try and show just how dangerous online gambling can be, and this is dangerous for Australian online gamblers, as these are hard and fast facts provided by The Economist, a well-respected publication, not known for publishing false facts.
